In their corporate capacity, the Trustees are vested with the title to the real estate owned by the Fraternity in this jurisdiction. As such, they are empowered to build and maintain a Hall whose derived income funds the construction of asylums, homes or schools for the free education of Masons' children, and also provides relief, support and care of worthy and indigent Masons as well as their wives, widows and orphans.

The Grand Lodge constitution specifies that the Trustees of the Masonic Hall and Asylum Fund shall consist of nine persons who are members of lodges under the authority of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in the state of New York. In order to avoid any conflict of interest, Grand Lodge officers are not eligible for office as a Trustee, and Trustees are ineligible for office in the Grand Lodge.
